The “Certificate in Family Office for Legal Practitioners” is WMI’s flagship programme developed in partnership with the Law Society of Singapore. It provides a structured and practice‑relevant platform to build advanced expertise in the family office and private wealth advisory sector.
The programme focuses on developing the technical depth, professional judgment, and advisory capabilities required to support families on complex wealth, governance, succession, and cross‑border matters, within an increasingly globalised and multi‑jurisdictional family office environment.

The “Certificate in Family Office for Legal Practitioners” is designed to cover a range of essential competencies and knowledge areas required to operate effectively within the family office and private wealth advisory sector.
Delivered by leading family office professionals with deep domain expertise, including faculty with legal backgrounds, the modules provide a structured learning pathway for participants to deepen and expand their technical skills and professional competencies, aligned with the Family Office job family under the IBF Skills Framework for Financial Services.
The stackable programme structure enables participants to complete the modules at their preferred pace, offering flexibility to balance learning alongside ongoing professional commitments. Completion of the core modules is required before progressing to the advanced modules.

This module provides a comprehensive introduction to the evolving global family office landscape and its role within the wider private wealth ecosystem. Participants gain clarity on the core functions of family offices and how they collaborate with legal, tax, investment, and advisory professionals.

This module provides an overview of the principles and practical considerations behind effective wealth transition across generations. Participants will learn how family purpose, values, and long‑term objectives shape succession and legacy planning, with emphasis on the needs of multigenerational and multi‑jurisdictional families. The module introduces key estate and wealth‑planning tools, structures, and regulatory frameworks, enabling participants to support client aspirations through structured needs assessments and informed decision‑making.

The module also examines family office investment activities from a governance and regulatory standpoint, including oversight structures and CMS licensing requirements, with a focus on how a Single Family Office’s purpose and activities drive its governance model.

This module equips professionals working with wealthy families to align capital with purpose by integrating philanthropy and sustainable investing into a unified, values‑driven strategy. It covers key global trends, regulations, and disclosure frameworks shaping modern philanthropy and sustainability, along with practical approaches for embedding mission, stewardship, structuring, investment decision‑making, and impact measurement. Through case studies and discussions, the module also explores how to foster inclusive, cross‑generational conversations around purpose, legacy, and social impact.

This programme is accredited by The Institute of Banking and Finance (IBF). Singaporeans and Permanent Residents are eligible for enhanced funding support of up to 70% course fee subsidy under the IBF Standard Training Scheme (IBF-STS).

Participants who wish to obtain CPD Points are reminded that they must comply strictly with the Attendance Policy set out in the CPD Guidelines. For this activity, this includes signing in on arrival and signing out at the conclusion of the activity in the manner required by the organiser, and not being absent from the entire activity for more than 15 minutes. Participants who do not comply with the Attendance Policy on any particular day of the activity will not be able to obtain CPD Points for attending the activity.
