Programme Overview

The Certificate in Philanthropy in Wealth and Legacy Planning empowers client advisers to use philanthropy as a strategic gateway for deeper, longer‐term relationships with wealth‐holding families. Advisers learn how to identify clients’ philanthropic motivations, uncover legacy priorities across generations, and facilitate meaningful conversations that extend beyond investments.

By understanding a family’s giving philosophy, advisers gain more authentic touchpoints and open doors to parts of the family they may not currently engage. This creates opportunities to broaden share of wallet, strengthen trust, and position the adviser as a long‐term partner.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

Identify client profiles to initiate legacy and philanthropy discussions

  • Use structured conversations and values‐based tools to open deeper advisory discussions and strengthen long‐term client trust.

Engage multiple generations and stakeholders within a family

  • Expand touchpoints to key influencers and decision‐makers to widen and deepen wallet share.

Navigate differing multi‐generational perspectives and facilitate alignment

  • Through role-playing activities, apply practical techniques to manage sensitive conversations, resolve tensions, and guide families toward shared purpose.

Recommend suitable philanthropic structures with confidence

  • Understand donor‐advised funds, trusts, foundations, and other giving vehicles to help clients choose structures that fit their intentions and governance needs.
