Programme Overview

The Certificate in Long-Term Investing is led by faculty from GIC, a global long-term investor that manages Singapore’s foreign reserves. It is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of various investment strategies across different asset classes. The ultimate goal of this programme is to help participants understand how to achieve good long-term returns. Participants will analyse and apply insights from selected GIC case studies.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the programme, the participants will be able to:

 

  • Understand the real-world challenges and opportunities of investing for the long term
  • Develop a discerning perspective across asset classes guided by long-term orientation, while navigating through market cycles and investment paradigms
  • Assess key investment decisions such as implementation, divestment and portfolio construction across traditional and alternative investments
  • Apply key frameworks, tools and techniques for investment decision-making

This programme is accredited under Certificate in Long Term Investing by The Institute of Banking and Finance (IBF). Singaporeans and Permanent Residents are eligible for enhanced funding support of up to 70% course fee subsidy under the IBF Standard Training Scheme (IBF-STS), subject to all eligibility criteria being met.

 

Participants are advised to assess the suitability of the course and its relevance to his/her business activities or job roles.

 

The IBF-STS is available to eligible entities and individuals based on the prevalent funding eligibility, quantum and caps.  IBF-STS provides up to 70% course fee subsidy support for direct training costs subject to a cap of S3,000 per candidate per course subject to all eligibility criteria being met.

  • Eligible for 8 IBF-STS CPD Hours
  • Awarded the WMI Certificate in Long Term Investing

 

About IBF Certification

This course addresses the following Technical Skills and Competencies (TSCs) and proficiency level:

  • Portfolio and Investment Risk Management PL5

 

Participants are encouraged to access the IBF MySkills Portfolio (https://www.ibf.org.sg/home/for-individuals/resource-tools/myskills-portfolio) to track their training progress and skills acquisition against the Skills Framework for Financial Services. You can apply for IBF Certification after fulfilling the required number of Technical Skills and Competencies (TSCs) for the selected job role.

Any discrepancies in registration details or failure to meet minimum IBF academic requirements will result in an unsuccessful IBF reimbursement claim and students will be liable for the full tuition fees.
