Alternative investments have become an increasingly important component of modern investment portfolios, offering investors access to return sources, diversification benefits, and risk management opportunities beyond traditional equities and fixed income. As access to alternative investment strategies continues to expand, investment professionals are expected to understand the characteristics, benefits, risks, and implementation considerations of these asset classes.
Introduction to Alternatives Investing is a one-day program that provides a comprehensive introduction to two major segments of the alternatives universe: Private Markets and Hedge Funds.
By the end of the programme, participants will be able to:
Private Markets Foundations
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the private markets landscape, examining the key characteristics of private versus public investments and the associated risk-return considerations.
Participants will explore how private market strategies can be incorporated into diversified portfolios, considering investor objectives, market conditions and evolving industry trends.
Introduction to Hedge Funds
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to hedge funds, focusing on their defining characteristics, return drivers, and role within diversified portfolios.
Participants will examine how hedge funds differ from traditional investment vehicles, including their use of strategies, leverage, and flexible mandates, as well as their objective of delivering absolute returns through alpha generation.

Accreditation
This programme is pending accreditation by The Institute of Banking and Finance (IBF). Singaporeans and Permanent Residents are eligible for enhanced funding support of up to 70% course fee subsidy under the IBF Standard Training Scheme (IBF-STS), subject to all eligibility criteria being met.
Participants are advised to assess the suitability of the course and its relevance to his/her business activities or job roles.
The IBF-STS is available to eligible entities and individuals based on the prevalent funding eligibility, quantum and caps. IBF-STS provides up to 70% course fee subsidy support for direct training costs subject to a cap of $3,000 per candidate per course subject to all eligibility criteria being met.

There are no prerequisites for our Certificate in Multi-Asset Investing programme.
There will be case studies, group and individual presentations during the programme. More information will be shared in the commencement email.
If you happen to fail the assessment, please be aware that reassessment will be conducted on a case-by-case basis. WMI will carefully review your situation and determine the most appropriate course of action for your particular circumstances.
Upon completion, participants will be awarded the WMI Certificate in Multi-Asset Investing.
WMI will submit the IBF funding on your behalf. No action is required from your end. However, any discrepancies in registration details or failure to meet minimum IBF academic requirements will result in an unsuccessful IBF reimbursement claim and students will be liable for the full tuition fees.
This programme is eligible for SkillsFuture Credit claim. We will share further details upon your registration.
