Programme Overview

The Certificate for Family Office Practitioner – Succession and Wealth Transfer is one of the modules for our signature programme – “Certified Family Office Practitioner”, which is devised to provide the skill set for those who are aspiring practitioners for the Family Office, and to provide a comprehensive understanding of the Family office perspectives, internal dynamics and structural setup.

 

The programme has been structured to cover a range of essential topics that form the core of a successful Family Office practitioner’s skill set. This stackable approach allows participants to complete the programme at their own pace, giving them the flexibility to balance their learning with their other professional commitments.

Modules

The Certificate for Family Office Practitioner – Succession and Wealth Transfer ​introduces the concepts around succession and the transfer of wealth from generation to generation and provides an overview of common approaches and practices worldwide.

 

Participants will learn about the various wealth planning tools and solutions typically relevant to the ultra-high net worth segment and understand how each of these may be used effectively. Participants will also learn about common challenges families face, especially where they are multi-jurisdictional and multi-generational and what these families need to consider when thinking about succession.  Participants will also learn to identify best practices for managing private family wealth, risks associated with succession planning, and approaches to initiating wealth transfer discussions with the Family.

  • Overview of common challenges and considerations of families of wealth in succession and wealth transfer​
  • Creating a multi-generational wealth management structure ​
  • Creating a structure to preserve and transfer not just family wealth but also values and heritage​

 

Introduction to Wealth Planning Products and Solutions

  • Overview of common wealth planning products and solutions such as Trusts​
  • Overview of wealth planning laws and regulations​
  • Understanding Tax planning: Tax Residency, Cross border taxation​
  • Application of wealth transfer with trusts​

 

Total: 8 CPD hours (1 day)

 

Learning Outcomes

  • Articulate what are the common wealth planning and transfer products and solutions​
  • Advise on success and wealth transfer taking into multi-jurisdictional tax and legal issues​
  • Facilitate the planning process for succession and wealth transfer with a family and assist in the implementation of proposed tools and structures​
  • Perform periodic reviews  for the family in the context of alignment to the family’s objectives and needs
