Programme Overview

Having a good understanding of licensing and permitted businesses under the different banking licenses is critical for operating in the banking industry. Being able to appreciate policy intent and requirements of various regulatory requirements and instruments is essential to the management of compliance risks. Beyond discussion on Singapore’s regulatory framework and regulatory expectations of retails banks, this course covers topics such as Consumer and Data protection. In the space of Fintech and Digital Bank, this course will discuss regulations surrounding non-financial business and the associated landscape which continues to evolve dynamically. Put together, the learner is offered comprehensive coverage of current and going forward regulatory considerations.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this module, participants will be able to

  • Check their understanding of Singapore’s Regulatory framework, MAS supervisory approach and expectations with respect to retail banks.
  • Appreciate broadly regulatory knowledge relating to Banking Business and various License types, interaction of topics such as Consumer Protection & Data Privacy, Outsourcing & Cross border services etc. Spur learner to develop their critical thinking for practical application of these topics in their relevant context.
  • Strengthen the organization’s compliance understanding and controls relating to Regulations surrounding Credit Facilities in Retail Banking
  • Discuss Fintech and Digital Bank Regulations – regulations surrounding non-financial business and evolving landscape

Who Should Attend

This course is designed for compliance professionals within the financial services sector with at least 3 years of relevant experience, including legal, enterprise/operational risk, audit professionals and those in control functions in the 1.5 line of defence. It is also relevant for external lawyers, consultants and accountants advising the financial services sector.
